The New York Mets have been riding a high horse over the last few weeks and it was on full display Thursday night in Philadelphia.
They took to the road to face off with the Philadelphia Phillies and complete their first four game sweep of the Phils in Philadelphia since 2002.
The game between the rivals went into extra innings with some help earlier in the game by the Mets big bats including newly acquired Yoenis Cespedes who hit their 44th team homerun of the month to cap off the best homerun hitting month in New York Mets history.
Daniel Murphy wanted to make his name known on a historic night for the Mets when he made this amazing play in bottom of the 10th inning to help Carlos Torres continue to pitch a gem of an inning. It may be the best 1-3-1 out of the year.
The ball careened off Torres’ leg, ended up going towards Murphy who swatted it down and then he back-handed it to Torres who was charging to first base, trying to beat out former Met outfielder Jeff Francoeur. Frenchy couldn’t have been too happy about this play.
