The Memphis Grizzlies’ injury woes seem to be unstoppable. With the team already suffering from ailments to half of its roster, they received some more bad news on Tuesday. Forward P.J. Hairston is expected to miss “a couple weeks” with a strained groin, according to Chris Vernon.
The Grizzlies’ injuries keep piling on. The team has lost Marc Gasol and Mario Chalmers for the season and point guard Mike Conley is also ailing. Zach Randolph, Lance Stephenson, and many others have also missed time and are expected to continue to miss time due to their respective injuries.
Memphis has been forced to look to the D-League for help as they hold on without their regular rotation players. The team recently signed guard Xavier Munford, the 4th player on a 10-day contract for the Grizzlies.
Memphis is still in 5th place in the Western Conference at 39-28. They have probably built a solid enough cushion to survive the tsunami of injuries, sitting 4.5 games above the sixth place Portland Trail Blazers.
Nevertheless, they will need to get at least some of their players back by the time the playoffs start should they have any chance of advancing past the first round. As the team currently stands, they have a better chance of being blown out by 49 points.
