Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are demanding A$AP Rocky’s release from Swedish jail. In a report by TMZ, Congressmen and Caucus members Hakeem Jeffries, Andre Carson, and Adriano Espaillat are demanding this request. They will “stand on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Wednesday and demand A$AP’s release from a Swedish jail.”
Jeffries told TMZ,
“The situation with A$AP Rocky is unfortunate, it’s outrageous, it needs to be addressed. You can expect that members of Congress, particularly those of us who are part of the Congressional Black Caucus, are going to continue to weigh in forcefully until A$AP Rocky is free.”
When asked if anyone has talked to Swedish government, he stated,
“Several members congress including Congressman Andre Carson of Indiana, are working to make sure we put the pressure on the state department so that the state department can reach out to the government of Sweden. And we can turn this situation around as soon as possible, it’s outrageous.”
A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was arrested in Sweden after a street fight on June 30. The rapper has been detained in a Swedish jail since his arrest.
