Meghan Trainor releases the official music video for her latest single “Nice To Meet Ya” Featuring Nicki Minaj.
The empowering pop song finds Meghan Trainor and Nicki Minaj in a colorful office with retro inspiration. Meghan Trainor sings of self-love and acceptance while performing choreography with brightly dressed dancers around the office floor. Nicki Minaj comes through with an on-brand confident verse, boasting her rap skills from a golden-lit elevator.
Nicki Minaj has been known to add a fiesty rap verse to several pop songs. Meghan Trainor shares how this collaboration, which she’s held onto since last fall, ultimately came to fruition through mutual management teams. Meghan Trainor also shares the creative process, describing working with Nicki Minaj as “legendary” to People.
“She came back and was like, ‘Hey, I don’t really like this line. Is there any other way we could change it?’ I changed it immediately then she was like, ‘This is awesome,’” says Meghan Trainor.
“She’s smart and she was right. It’s a better move. So I was really happy about that and was really impressed. And then she laid down one of my favorite verses of all time by her on my song and I freaked out, especially when she’s like, ‘Meghan Trainor.’” she continues.
Nicki Minaj recently announced that she will guest-judge on the season 12 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race airing on VH1, February 28, 2020.
