NPR’s Tiny Desk has put together an incredible string of concerts to end 2019 and kick off the new year. Over the last few months, BJ The Chicago Kid, Wale, Burna Boy, Dave and many others have traveled to the nation’s capital to take part in the series. One of the more talked about performances came from Houston’s own Megan Thee Stallion, who was joined by Phony Ppl. Just months after performing together, they have released a collaboration called “Fkn Around.”
Phony Ppl put together the song not too long ago in Philadelphia’s Retro City Studios. After the record was finished, it found its way over to Megan Thee Stallion’s team.
“We have some overlapping people on our teams,” Phony Ppl’s Elbee Thrie told NPR Music.
“One of them brought the song to her with a disclaimer, ‘I know you don’t usually do this.’ But she gave it an organic listen and was feelin’ it. And with the topic being what it was, having a woman on the song who could pen a great verse was what we wanted. And that’s exactly what she did,” Thrie added.
The song comes not long after the Houston native dropped “B.I.T.C.H” sampling Tupac. A new album is also rumored to be on the way, but for now we’ll enjoy this. Check out Phony Ppl and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Fkn Around.”
