Meek Mill is receiving lots of brotherly love from his hometown.
Meek Mill has been honored with ‘Meek Mill Weekend’ by Philadelphia City Council. WPVI News reports the council celebrated the rapper’s “contributions as an artist and a criminal justice reform advocate,” on Thursday. The celebratory weekend is from March 15 to March 17.
At the ceremony, Meek thanked the city of Philadelphia, his family, and Roc Nation after being presented with the honor. On his efforts as an activist for criminal justice reform, he stated, “I wanted to do something where I felt important enough to give people like me coming up a fair shot in life.”
The news comes ahead of his tour stops in his hometown. The North Philly rapper was also previously honored with his own day in Houston last month. Congrats to the Philly native!
