
If Meek Mill isn’t the most talked about artist of the year, he’s definitely in the discussion. At the beginning of the year, Meek Mill found himself behind bars. Over the first half of the year, the movement to free Meek Mill gained momentum and ultimately, he ended up regaining his freedom. While his legal battle continues to inhibit parts of his life, Meek Mill has managed to thrive since being released from prison. The Philadelphia native found his way on to CNN and NBC as an advocate for those who are victimized by the prison industrial complex. Soon thereafter, Meek Mill took the stage at the 2018 BET Awards and dropped a new project called Legends of the Summer.
During the second of half 2018, Meek Mill’s focus has seemingly shifted completely towards the music. Over the last few months, Meek Mill has found his way on to T.I.’s new album and been in the studio with Cardi B. Going forward, Meek Mill plans on releasing his first album since being released from jail. As he moves to continue his momentum musically, Meek Mill has made plans to express his creativity on the screen.
Meek Mill is slated to appear in a brand new Jada Pinkett-Smith led production called 12 O’Clock Boys. Backed by a script originally written by Barry Jenkins, the film will center around a Baltimore teenager who pursues being a part of a Baltimore bike rider gang. Meek Mill will also feature Teyonah Parris, Jahi Winston and Will Carlett. There is no scheduled release date for the film, but there will surely be more details to come in the near future.
