All eyes are on Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as the Eagles head to Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona. As the big game nears, Philadelphia native Meek Mill has offered a few motivational bars by way of the “Don’t Follow The Heathens” freestyle. Rapping over a soulful loop before going without production, Meek Mill describes the harsh realities of rising from a tough area and becoming the main provider in his community.
“I got different emotions/Startin’ to feel like Call of Duty all this shit that I’m totin’/And it been hard to trust people, ’cause they been livin’ too soulless/To clear my mind, I take a dip in the ocean, clear my soul up/N*ggas know I rose up from a Rolls truck/Started from a Chevy, now it’s a ‘Rari with the doors up,” he raps.
Meek Mill took a step back following the release of Expensive Pain, but he has returned in a major way over the last six months. From teaming up with Michael Rubin for community givebacks to sitting ringside at a Gervonta Davis fight, he has remained visible. As for his musical output, he recently hosted a concert celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut album, Dreams & Nightmares. Not to be forgotten, he dropped the Flamerz 5 mixtape in November.
Now, he’s back with a new freestyle. It’s safe to say that Meek Mill is here to make noise in 2023. Check out the “Don’t Follow the Heathens” freestyle below.
