Meek Mill has announced that he has now become co-owner of sports apparel retailer Lids. Reported by Business Insider, Meek will also “lead the company’s creative strategy and release a limited-edition line of hats through the brand in August.”
Meek has reportedly joined the Lids ownership team thanks to his connection with Michael Rubin, co-owner of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. Rubin is also the cofounder of the rapper’s Reform Alliance Foundation for criminal-justice reform.
On his decision on being a co-owner of the retailer, Meek told the publication in an interview,
“I’ve been shopping at Lids my whole life, wearing hats, fitteds, of course, fitted hats and caps, all types of hats. In our culture, it’s been a big thing. So, it was something I ain’t have to think twice about and always believed in, that it’ll work.”
Meek also discussed a number of different topics including his upcoming docu-series Free Meek, working with JAY-Z, and more. Read the interview in its entirety here.
