Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman has been placed on injured reserve ahead of Super Bowl LVII. Hardman was sidelined in Week Nine of the regular season with a pelvis injury before returning in the team’s 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2023 AFC Championship. He re-aggravated the injury and will now miss the Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. With Hardman placed on injured reserve, the team activated running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire who has been sidelined with an ankle sprain since Week Eleven of the regular season.

This season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Mecole Hardman caught 25 passes for 297 yards and four touchdowns on 34 targets. He also rushed the ball four times for 31 yards and two rushing touchdowns. In the team’s win in the 2023 AFC Championship Hardman caught two passes for ten yards on three targets before re-aggravating his pelvis injury. Kansas City is lacking serious depth at the position without Hardman and that will put more pressure on star tight end Travis Kelce. The running back rotation will also likely see heavy touches in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
