The Houston Rockets have gained a Dwight Howard, but they have lost a Patrick Beverley. And in both positions the Rockets depth chart isn’t something that’ll blow your mind. With Beverley out it’s up to veterans Jason Terry and Pablo Prigioni to take the one. Luckily they have James Harden to help them out on the offensive end. And they’re a pretty tight unit when it comes to the defensive end. They took care of the Wizards and they had John Wall.
Kevin McHale, head coach of the Rockets. Is always confident in his team. When you have a MVP candidate it’s no surprise. But when it comes to Beverley and whether he’ll return or not. He’s a bit more pessimistic. According to the Houston Chronicle, McHale thinks Beverley won’t return.
While listing the players out with injuries, Rockets coach Kevin McHale described Beverley’s situation differently than the others.
“I’m not sure about Pat,” McHale said. “Probably won’t come back.”
Beverley tore ligaments in his left wrist in Indianapolis on Monday. He has been seeking opinions of specialists to determine whether he can play with the injury or would need surgery.
Multiple individuals with knowledge of the process said on Sunday that no decision has been made. But McHale’s comment, distinguishing Beverley from Terrence Jones, Donatas Motiejunas and Kostas Papanikolaou, indicated that with Beverley’s condition, the Rockets might still hope for the best, but are preparing for the worst.
I think they’ll go with the surgery option. Of course they’ll always go for Beverley playing with the injury. But when your head coach describes the situation differently than the others. It might be the overall feeling of the organization.
