Five years after delivering BlackSummers’Night, Maxwell is preparing to return with a new album. The legendary singer, songwriter, and producer has announced that his next album will arrive in the first quarter of 2022. To get things going, he offered the first single from the project. Produced by Hod David, “Off” is a romantic slow jam that fits in line with what so many people have come to love from Maxwell over the years.
Maxwell isn’t simply here to deliver a single or announce a new album. He’s also excited about his new deal with BMG and his recent appearance at the Soul Train Music Awards. At the Apollo Theater, Maxwell received the Legend Award in celebration of his endless catalog of classic records.
“From announcing a new partnership with BMG for my label Musze to receiving the Legend Award at the upcoming 2021 Soul Train Awards, I couldn’t be more excited to share this new single with loved ones offering a glimpse into the night,” he told Variety.
To top it all off, Maxwell has announced that he will be going on tour in 2022. Alongside Joe and Anthony Hamilton, the 2021 Soul Train Music Award honoree will make stops in Atlanta, Brooklyn, Nashville, Chicago, Indianapolis, Oakland, Los Angeles and several other cities.
“Maxwell is one of the most respected artists in the industry,” Black Promoters Collective CEO Gary Guidry told Variety.
“His body of work and showmanship are second to none. We believe he has a true connection to the culture. We are happy to partner with him on the NIGHT 2022 Tour and look forward to growing this relationship for years to come.”
