With Dirk sitting out because of a sore back, Monta Ellis took over for the Mavs late, leading them to victory in a game that was back-and-forth all night.
After scoring 38 in Chicago last night, Ellis came back and dropped 23 on his former team including eight points in the final two minutes. Tyson Chandler also stepped up for Dallas, scoring 17 points while also pulling down 18 rebounds. Chandler is averaging 15 rebounds in his last four games.
Both teams were evenly matched, with neither one gaining a huge advantage on one another. With the Bucks trailing 105-103 with 8.9 seconds left to play in regulation, Brandon Knight who finished with 25 points, hit a step back jumper which tied the game up. Dallas would call timeout which set up Ellis’ heroics. Ellis took the inbound pass, dribbled to the right elbow, spun and faded away while sinking the shot as the buzzer sounded to lead the Mavs to their 15th win of the season.
Both teams return to action on Friday when Dallas hosts the Suns, and the Bucks will play host to the Heat.
