Monta Ellis scored 13 of his 26 points in the final 5 minutes to go along with his 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Dirk Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons and Devin Harris scored 20 points each for Dallas. Nowitzki had 6 rebounds to go with his scoring output. And Harris came off the bench for his 20 points.
Anthony Davis scored 31 points and added 11 rebounds before limping off the court in the fourth quarter for the Pelicans but he would stay in the game. Jrue Holiday added a season-high 30 points and 10 assists. Ryan Anderson came off the bench for 13 points and 5 rebounds.
New Orleans had a chance to tie the game in the final 6 seconds, but Ryan Anderson’s 3-point attempt bounced hit rim. Dallas’ Richard Jefferson grabbed the rebound, was fouled and sunk both free throws to seal the victory.
The Mavericks improved to 10-1 this season when Nowitzki scores at least 20 points. Ellis was coming off a 2-point game at Memphis on Tuesday, his lowest output since he was a rookie in 2006.
Dallas Mavericks are 17-7. New Orleans Pelicans are 10-11.
