The return…ok it might not be LeBron James, Kevin Durant or even Kevin Love or Paul Pierce for that matter, but there is an important player that did return to play against his former team and that was Tyson Chandler. He helped the Dallas Mavericks defeat his former team, the New York Knicks, 107-87 in New York.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks, he also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Tyson Chandler had 8 points and 14 rebounds. Monta Ellis added 14 points and had 6 assists for the Mavs and Chandler Parsons had 13 points with 6 assists after missing a game with a sore lower back. Devin Harris came off the bench to score 11 points and J.J. Barea joined him off the bench to score 10 points.
Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the Knicks. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 14 points but was 5 for 17 in another poor shooting effort for New York. Amar’e Stoudemire had 10 points with 5 rebounds. Jason Smith came off the bench to score 10 points with 4 rebounds.
Knicks coach Derek Fisher pulled all five starters early in the first but the Mavs kept rolling, opening a 34-15 lead while draining 13 of their first 16 attempts.
New York Knicks are still off to their franchise worst start and were without Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith.
Dallas Mavericks are 18-8. New York Knicks are 5-22.
