Maurice Cheeks was admitted into a hospital recently after suffering an undisclosed medical episode on a plane to Philadelphia. After that brief health scare, it appears Maurice Cheeks has been released from the hospital. According to Royce Young of ESPN, Cheeks is “doing well” and is in “good spirits” despite this incident.
The former NBA player played in the NBA for 15 seasons, shooting over 50% from the field for an outstanding 11 of those 15 years. Those 11 season’s are second only to John Stockton for the most total seasons averaging at least 50% from the field by a point guard. He is currently an assistant head coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder after being a head coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, Detroit Pistons, and Philadelphia 76ers.
In 1983, Cheeks helped the 76ers win a championship by scoring 16 points per game in the playoffs and shooting 50.3% from the field. Playing 11 seasons for the 76ers, the one time all star had a very solid career and hopefully continues to have many more successful years in Oklahoma City.
