Matthew McConaughey is hanging up his leather song as the actor won’t be back for ‘Magic Mike XXL’.
In an interview with Indiewire, director Greg Jacobs said McConaughey will not reprise his role as club owner Dallas.
Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello are set to return for the sequel with Alex Pettyfer yet to be confirmed.
This time around, the gang of male strippers are taking their act on the road with Jacobs promising an entirely different movie than the first.
“What am I allowed to say? It’s a road trip movie and put it this way, it’s different enough that once you see it you’ll understand why we made a sequel,” said Jacobs. “No-one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice.”
‘Magic Mike XXL’ is slated to hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
