Acclaimed director Matthew Cherry has signed a first-look development deal with Warner Bros. Television Group. With this new deal, Cherry will develop new television series for both streaming and cable.

“It’s an important time to be a Black creative working in this industry, and I look forward to creating impactful projects and partnering with other talented marginalized voices in our community,” he added.
Cherry is best known for his work on Hair Love, an animated short film about Black hair and father-daughter bonds. Coming off an Academy Award win for the short film, the sky is the limit for the emerging creative.
