On Dec. 5, Sacremento Kings forward Matt Barnes was reportedly involved in a Chelsea nightclub brawl in New York City. At the nightclub, Barnes allegedly choked his 26-year-old girlfriend after their argument escalated and thus prompted the brawl. Since the brawl, not much news or arrests have come out about the situation until the developing reports today.

NBA player Matt Barnes is expected to soon turn himself in on misdemeanor assault charges for allegedly assaulting a woman during a brawl at a Chelsea nightclub, police sources said Friday.
The Dec. 5 free-for-all happened at hotspot Avenue on 10th Ave. and involved Barnes, fellow Sacramento King DeMarcus Cousins and other patrons, including a woman whose argument with Barnes sparked the melee.
Among those injured were Jasmine Besiso, 26, and Myrone Powell, 35, both of whom claimed they were not involved in the initial dispute but got caught up in it when Barnes started choking the woman he was quarelling with.
The Sacremento Kings are currently 10th in the Western conference and a distraction they don’t need as they try and make a second half playoff push. As this story continues to develop, we can only assume the Kings organization will monitor this closely and plan accordingly.
