Last month, BET honored Mary J. Blige with a lifetime achievement award at the 2019 BET Awards. For nearly three decades, the New York native has dazzled audiences in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Today, we learned that Mary J. Blige is looking to add yet another accolade to her long list of accomplishments.
During a TCA panel for Power, Courtney Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson made a major casting announcement about the first spin-off series to follow the show’s final season.
According to Deadline, Kemp said, “Today we are pleased to announce that we are in pre-production on the first of what we know will be a collection of series inspired by the dynamic world of Power.” She added, “Power Book II: Ghost will continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters.”
Blige was equally excited about the announcement. She stated, “This is probably going to be the most exiting thing that will happen to me this year.” Jackson chimed in, “This will be the biggest thing ever, if you do it.”
There is no release date for the first Power spin-off yet. However, the final season of Power will premiere at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan later this summer.
