Mary J. Blige will receive the Entertainment Icon Award at the 2024 Urban One Honors on Saturday, January 20 in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Urban One is thrilled to honor the incomparable Mary J. Blige as our 2024 Entertainment Icon,” TV ONE President Michelle L. Rice said, according to Keithan Samuels of Rated R&B.
“Mary’s immeasurable talent and award-winning music has shaped our culture and has had a profound impact on artists and music across all genres, but most notably the elevation of female artists in both R&B and Hip Hop across generations. She fully personifies the ‘Best in Black’ theme of this year’s Urban One Honors.”
Blige is undoubtedly one of the most influential voices in music within the last 30 years. The award-winning songstress and entrepreneur won nine Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards and a dozen NAACP Image Awards throughout her career. She has also earned the Billboard Icon Award and received the BET Lifetime Achievement Award. Winning the Entertainment Icon Award places her alongside previous recipients such as Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson and LL Cool J.
Urban One’s presentation of Blige’s Entertainment Icon Award will be televised on February 25, 2024 at 8 p.m. EST on TV One.
