A new deal has been struck with Mark Sanchez and the Philadelphia Eagles. A two year deal worth 16 million will return “The Sanchize” to the city of brotherly love. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the story.

Sanchez was pursued by the Titans as well. A backup role to Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger must not have been all to appealing to Sanchez. The Sanchize will now return to Philadelphia after a 4-4 record with the Eagles. His role with the team is yet to be determined by the pursuit of Marcus Mariota. While the incumbent Nick Foles is 14-4 as a starting quarterback with the Eagles, his job security seems to have grown thin. His inability to run the high paced Chip Kelly offense may prompt the Eagles into trading him. With 8 million dollars a year going to Sanchez it appears Foles may have played his last game with the team.
The Eagles have been awfully busy during the start of free agency by signing Bryon Maxwell, Frank Gore, and now Mark Sanchez. The Eagles are determined to retain Jeremy Maclin as well. It appears the Eagles have enough cap space for one more big offseason splash. The secondary remains a need even after the Maxwell signing.
