Mark Price, the Charlotte Hornets assistant coach, is going to be the head coach of the UNC Charlotte 49ers according to ESPN. Mark Price was a standout point guard for Georgia Tech, and a 4 time all star in the NBA. He was a legendary shooter, and he spent most of his career on the Cavaliers. Mark has been helping NBA teams around the league since he became a shooting consultant in 2007 for the Memphis Grizzlies. He has coached in numerous places since then, and he is a very good shooting coach. Mark was an assistant with the Hornets the past two season, and he will finish this season with them.
Price was offered a 5 year deal with UNCC. Mark Price will be replacing Alan Major who resigned from his coaching position after 5 years. Alan Major parted ways with the 49ers after he had coached with them for 5 years, and in that time, he had two medical leaves of absence. Major posted a 67-70 record in games that he coached for, and his teams were 75-81 overall.
Mark Price will be a good head coach for the 49ers, as he will look to have them become a tournament team. His expertise is coaching shooting, and Mark will help the team to become better shooters so that they can score more points, and that leads to winning games. UNCC looks to win Conference USA next season and advance to the tournament, and Price is the right guy to help them do that.
