Another member of the Trump administration has been taken into custody at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.
This afternoon, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows was reportedly booked into the Fulton County Jail. He is one of 19 co-defendants charged with attempting to overturn the most recent presidential election by influencing elected officials in the Peach State. Like several of his co-defendants, including Rudy Giuliani and Kenneth Chesebro, posted bond and was released immediately after being booked.
Eight of Meadows’ co-defendants, including former President Donald Trump, have until Friday, August 25 at noon to turn themselves in. According to ABC News, the office of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis expects each of those eight defendants to abide by the imposed deadline. Most notably, Trump is expected to turn himself in on Thursday, August 24 and post a bond of $200,000. Days later, he is expected to be arraigned in a Fulton County courtroom. Willis aims to begin trial in October, but several co-defendants have requested their trial be moved to a federal court, which could delay the proceedings by weeks, if not months.
