The California Golden Bears have fired Head Coach Mark Fox after four seasons and the program’s worst record in a college basketball season. His tenure with the program was incredibly disappointing. While he did have some success at his previous job with the Georgia Bulldogs, the majority of his success as a Head Coach came in the early to mid-2000s as the Head Coach of the Nevada Wolfpack. If California wants to build a decent basketball program they will need to find the right guy to take over the program and pay him to come there.
Mark Fox has been let go at Cal, sources told ESPN. Spent four seasons in Berkeley. Finished 3-29 this season.

In four seasons as the Head Coach of the California Golden Bears, Mark Fox led the team to an overall record of 38-87 and a PAC-12 record of 17-61. They did not finish with a winning record once in his tenure and in fact, their best season was his first year there. That year the team finished 14-18 overall and 7-11 in the PAC-12. Needless to say, they did not qualify for any post-season tournaments under Fox.
The California Golden Bears have been a program near the bottom of the PAC-12 for some time and Mark Fox made that problem even worse. It will take a good recruiter and a spectacular coach to turn that basketball team around in the future. It is unclear where or if Fox will coach again in the NCAA.
