Let’s take a moment to truly recognise how pivotal Stephen Curry is. NBA2K are struggling to rate him because he shoots so well. He’s shooting from the 3-Point line better than some players overall field goal percentage.
There aren’t many players in, not just basketball, but sport in general, that are making the game so easy that the respective league has to change the game fundamentally.
Mark Cuban doesn’t hesitate to suggest things that could possibly improve the game. But for this one, he’s not the only person that has suggested this. Pushing the 3-Point line back.
Mark Cuban says the NBA should consider moving the 3-point line back to open up the court more. He thinks it would also encourage players to develop a midrange game.
Now you know the problem with this. The line is already at its breaking point. If you have big enough feet and try to shoot on the side of the court, you’ll most likely have your foot over the line.
The line is too tight. There’s only one solution, increase the size of the court. Are we truly willing to fundamentally change the game because of one man? What happens when he retires and most players are still shooting like the average NBA player? Are we going to shrink it back? You have to consider the repercussions for the future of the game after Curry.
