The Oakland Athletics first baseman/outfielder was crowned with the AL POTW honors this past week for his excellent play. Canha managed a .474/.524/1.158 slash line while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 7 RBI for the Athletics who are looking to stay in the hunt in the AL West. Canha has been on a tear lately and the Athletics can only hope this will continue.
In the NL East, Washington Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon took home the honors while managing a slash line of .483/.543/.793 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI on the week. Rendon is on a Nationals team that is looking to fend off the competition for a wildcard berth en route to a postaseason run. Rendon is also in the midst of a contract year where there have been multiple reports that the surging New York Mets could target him this offseason.
Both of the POTW honorees are brought to the fans in partnership with Major League Baseball and W.B. Mason for the best performances over the prior week.
