It’s been a tough year for Texas Tech after such a strong start to the Mark Adams tenure last year. After a mass exodus of players last offseason, the team took a few steps back and is likely on the outside looking into the tournament. On top of it all, Adams has now been suspended as Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt takes a deeper look at a racially insensitive comment Adams made towards a player.
Adams was quoting a bible verse “about workers, teachers, parents, and slaves serving their masters.” The player reported the comment which led to Hocutt reprimanding Adams before deciding to suspend him. Hocutt is not only investigating the comment a bit further but also the relationship between Adams and his staff and players. There were already questions after Tech’s two best players transferred following a great season last year. One of which was Kevin McCullar whose family has long attended and been connected to the Texas Tech program which raised eyebrows.
There was also a separate incident earlier in season school is also investigating in which Adams spit on a player.
Adams told Stadium he had gone to the doctor, had a bad cough and slobbered on the player during the game.
“I can spit on you whenever I want to,” one person… https://t.co/hBABwp06b8

There is also another report of Adams spitting on a player which Adams denies happening. Things don’t seem to be going great in Lubbock with Adams seemingly being at the hear of most of the issues. Some close to the program feel it seems unlikely that Adams coaches for the school next year but we’ll have to wait and see how Hocutt’s investigation turns out.
