He’s gone! Miami rejoice! Chalmers is out of South Beach! I never thought it was going to happen but it did and I can’t tell you how much I was jumping for joy. He fell off in Miami, I’d question whether he was even on? I mean other than two specific games I can think of, when has Mario Chalmers been starter worthy?
Sure he didn’t need to be Chris Paul when the Heat were getting rings, but I wanted to see growth so when the era potentially ends, he can take the ball and run it up the court. But no, he kept up with the bench player numbers. I was done with him, Miami wanted to trade him and he’s off to Memphis. Saying that, I can see why Chalmers would say that he has a chip on his shoulder.
“I’m definitely playing with a chip on my shoulder, especially with the way everything went down in Miami,” said Chalmers, who was also traded so the Heat could reduce luxury tax payments. “I’m just licking my chops at this new opportunity and I’m ready to help the Grizzlies start winning.“
And props, the Grizzlies have won a few, I still think they won’t do much in the Playoffs (that’s if they even make the Playoffs), Mario Chalmers won’t change my mind.
But at least he can continue racking up career bench player numbers as an actual bench player now.
