Three months after the release of her hit single, “Burning Blue,” Mariah The Scientist has unveiled her fourth studio album, Hearts Sold Separately. Arriving nearly two years after To Be Eaten Alive, the concise, 10-track project is the singer’s “best work yet.”
“This project feels like my best work yet. It’s different from anything I’ve done before,” she told DJ Misses at Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash.
Mariah The Scientist set the tone for the album with the release of “Burning Blue and then followed with the Kali Uchis-assisted track, “Is It a Crime?” The Nineteen85 and Mat1k-produced slow jam finds Mariah The Scientist digging into many of the discussions of romance and heartbreak that the Atlanta native has had in the past, but with a twist. This time around, Mariah The Scientist sings and writes with increased agency and determination as she matures as an artist and woman. With her new album, Hearts Sold Separately, she aims to put all of that and more together as she steps back into the battlefield of love.
