Mariah Carey is being honored with a special award for her accomplishments.
Mariah Carey will receive the Icon Award at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards next month.
According to Billboard, dick clark productions and NBC announced Thursday that Carey will receive the prestigious award. The singer “has dominated the pop world and the Billboard charts since her debut in 1990.”
Carey is also set to perform a medley of some of her biggest hits. She joins musicians such as Janet Jackson, Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Jennifer Lopez, and Celine Dion who have also been recipients of the Icon Award.
The Billboard Music Awards hosted by Kelly Clarkson will air on Wednesday, May 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
