When talking about Mariah Carey’s latest musical effort, one quickly agrees that “Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse” was not born under a lucky star: plenty of pushbacks, partially caused by an injury, single choices no one understands, re-naming the album, the accidental release of a demo version instead of the mastered one of “The Art of Letting Go” – which in the end didn’t even made the cut.
Even though the album has great 90s vibe (ignorant people call it ‘outdated’ by the way) and was given generally positive reviews, the album has sold up to now only 103k units. However, there was like zero promo before and after the release of the album.
What’s the consequence? Right. Jermaine Dupri and Mariah Carey have decided to part ways.
JD told Billboard:
“I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work. I put my all into every project. But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future.”
Hmm… who would not allow him to organize promotional events? We will probably never know that but we learned that Mariah will most likedly be managed by Kevin Liles. Let’s wait and see what he can save…
