At this point, it’s pretty safe to say that Suicide Squad is one of the most anticipated films coming out.
But according to Margot Robbie, when it came to casting, there were some troubles, especially when it came to Jared Leto being cast as the Joker.
When it was first revealed that Leto would play the sadistic character, a lot of fans were upset…until the first trailer was released and fans were able to see a more sinister side of Leto.
For his role, Leto used method acting, a form of acting that requires the actor to fully embody their character, on and off the camera.
Robbie told the NY Daily News that by doing this, Leto’s performance is ‘pretty impressive’:
“At first it was kind of confronting (to be up close) but now I’m so used to it, I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused.
Actually, I saw him out of makeup once and I was actually petrified of him. I was too scared to go up and didn’t know who that person was, and when he got back into his makeup I was far more comfortable.”
It still isn’t clear how large of a role Joker will play in Suicide Squad, but it’s rumored he will be weigh heavily in Harley Quinn’s story line.
