With the start of the next NBA campaign currently sitting less than two months away, twins Marcus and Markieff Morris find themselves in a serious legal situation that could impact their availability next season. Both have a lot on the line this upcoming season: Marcus on a new team with the Boston Celtics, and Markieff looking to help the Wizards keep pace in the East.
Before any of that happens though, the forwards will make an appearance in court on September 6th for charges dating back over two years ago according to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England:
The next court date in Maricopa County for Markieff and Marcus Morris is set for September 6 at 8:15 a.m. local time.

Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris face assault charges stemming from an incident on January 24, 2015, in which a man was beaten outside of a highschool basketball game in Phoenix, Arizona. The victim, Erik Hood, claimed to have known the twins and has said their relationship had gone downhill when the two found inappropriate text messages from Hood on their mother’s phone.
Markieff and Marcus have previously stated that they have no ties to Hood or the incident but it remains to be seen whether the two will be convicted.
If they are convicted of the felony assault charges being pressed against them, the Morris twins could face jail time and would serve a minimum 10-game suspension to start the season.
