The Sacramento Kings struggles to become a good team have been surprising to many. With DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay and Rajon Rondo leading the way for them, the Kings finished the season 10th in the West going 33-49 in the season. After firing George Karl and hiring Dave Joerger to help move this Kings team forward, Kings guard Marco Belinelli believes the Kings will be moving in a different direction.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (Via Sportando):
“There wasn’t a good group in Sacramento and there wasn’t trust in the coach. We didn’t train well all the season. Now I saw that they’ve made some changes, they fired George Karl and hired Dave Joerger. I think that Joerger he’s a good coach, he can do a good job”
“I still want to win. Coming from San Antonio I immediately noticed that several teammates in Sacramento hadn’t a winning mentality. But I do have a winning mentality and I want to win now. To make that happen, something has to happen. I’m still under contract with Sacramento and I have trust in the organization but in the NBA you never know what may happen, we’ll see what will happen in the summer”.
Belinelli clearly doesn’t seem happy with the position this Kings franchise is in, but he’s hopeful. So are Kings fans around the world, and with DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, you would expect to playing better basketball, but it hasn’t translated to that. Belinelli averaged 10 points and 2 3-points for the Kings this season in 68 games, having one of his better years, but the last part of his quote, seems to feel as if he wants out of Sacramento. It must be hard to go from one of the most world-class organizations in the San Antonio Spurs to an organization that is a bit of a mess right now in the Sacramento Kings.
