The Washington Wizards are currently in a strange spot entering the trade deadline. They’re without All-Star point guard John Wall and reserve guard Jodie Meeks is angling to get his way out of town after seeing a lack of playing time. But on the other hand, Bradley Beal has been phenomenal all season and Washington is riding a five-game win streak as they sit fourth in the Eastern Conference. So where does Washington go now?
It appears that the Wiz are looking to get involved with some trade talks approaching the deadline. One name that has been discussed involving Gortat and the Wizards is Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan but there’s no clear path towards a deal right now. The 33-year-old Gortat and his sizable contract could play an important part in a potential deal for a bigger name.
Our own JD Shaw reported some talk involving Gortat and the Wizards potentially including him in deals, as told to him by a person close to the situation.
Washington has explored trades involving Marcin Gortat, clearly motivated to upgrade its roster before the Feb. 8 deadline passes. I doubt his comments about joining the Magic soon have sat well, either.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN also dropped some words on Gortat’s potential name in trade talks.
The Washington Wizards have been engaged on trade talks involving center Marcin Gortat, multiple sources told ESPN.
There have been several teams that have shown interest but the Wizards are looking to improve their team now while not taking on additional long-term money, sources said.
Gortat is in his 11th season averaging 8.9 points and eight rebounds per game in 53 starts. Gortat is in the fourth year of a five-year, $60 million contract. He’s owed about $13 million over the next two seasons.
