The rivalry between the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets somehow managed to intensify when they faced off in Houston.
The game marked the return of James Harden, after he was suspended due to his actions towards Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James when he kicked LeBron in the groin.
Harden returned but the star for the Memphis Grizzlies, Marc Gasol, showed why he should still be considered in the tops of the MVP discussion.
There was some issue earlier in the game whether there should’ve been a foul called in James Harden’s favor after he was hit driving towards the hoop but irregardless, there was no call made.
The starting Western Conference all-star center Marc Gasol didn’t go hunting for the game winner either. Through the key moment of the game, Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale had undersized Terrence Jones on Gasol. While Jones had another great game for the Rockets, that is a tough matchup for him. It’s a tough matchup for anyone actually. The play had Gasol isolated just about at the wing, he drove baseline and Jones couldn’t stop him.
Marc Gasol pulls up and boom, hits the game winner with 0.1 seconds to go.
