The San Antonio Spurs dynasty has been amazing, and they are looking to add another championship this season. The Spurs are catching fire at the perfect time, just like last year. The Spurs ended 2014 with a championship, and they could do the same this year. Winning a championship back-to-back years may be the perfect storybook ending for Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. They are both on expiring contracts after this season but Coach Gregg Popovich thinks that Tim Duncan will return for another year, but Manu has not said which way he will go.
Last year, Manu said that he may play 2015-16 if this year went well. He recently told La Cocion and translated by HoopsHype that he has been told to play another year. He has said,
Every retired players tells me, ‘Enjoy it, play one more year’. And well, I’ve been doing this for 19 years and if it’s not at the end of the season it will be the following year. Then it’s over and it won’t come back.
It seems like Manu will probably play another year. Ginobili has produced well, but it has been below average for his standards. He has averaged 10.7 PPG, 3 RPG, and 4.3 APG. He has also shot 42.6% and 34% from deep according to theScore. Manu will make his decision at the end of the season, but for now he is focused on winning another championship for San Antonio.
