Angelina Jolie returns in the latest character posters for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She’s not the only one in the spotlight though as Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor are all featured in their own one-shots.
2014’s Maleficent added a new chapter to the titular villain’s story. The ending which saw her embrace Aurora as her god-daughter and forsake her vengeful ways was nice but, obviously not the end of the story. Judging by the title, the sequel will see the usually-villainous fairy turn back to the old ways. It will likely lead directly into a live-action Sleeping Beauty film as part of Disney’s continued quest to bring classic animated films to life.

Some may be surprised that Mistress of Evil is even a thing considering the first Maleficent came out over 5 years ago. But, considering the film made an eye-watering $758 million at the global box office, I don’t think Disney is too worried about their opinions. It’s worth noting though that the box office climate was VERY different in 2014 and even then the film was considered somewhat of a surprise success.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil hits theaters worldwide on October 18th.
