After a long, decorated tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, safety Malcolm Jenkins didn’t have his option for next season picked up by the team. With Jenkins hitting the open market, it didn’t take long for another team to pounce on the opportunity of adding a three-time Pro Bowler to their defensive backfield.
In fact, Jenkins will be playing next season in a familiar uniform as he joins the New Orleans Saints for the second time in his career. According to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, Jenkins will join the Saints on a four-year deal worth up to $35 million.
The #Saints have agreed to terms with safety Malcolm Jenkins, per source.
The terms are as follows:
Four years, $32M – up to 35 max – with $16.25 guaranteed.

After playing the last six seasons of his career in Philadelphia, Malcolm Jenkins will head back to the franchise which drafted him with the 14th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Jenkins started 63 games for the Saints over his first four seasons as a professional.
Jenkins had been the glue for Philadelphia’s solid defensive unit for years but had shown signs of wear and tear the last couple of seasons. Jenkins is still a capable box safety, but his ability to cover effectively in space has certainly taken a hit. Regardless, the Ohio State product will bolster a New Orleans defensive unit in need of a veteran leader, something Jenkins will be able to provide right away.
