
Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff has reportedly passed away at the age of 50. On Sunday evening, Digital Black of Playa shared the tragic news by way of Instagram.
“Man, [I] can’t believe this. [Rest in heaven], Magoo. Damn, big bro! [I] wasn’t ready for this at all,” he wrote as he shared the cover Timbaland and Magoo’s 1997 studio LP, Welcome To Our World.
The Virginia native was best known for his work with his friend and producer, Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley. Together, they released three studio albums and five singles through the latest 1990s and early 200s. Along the way, they worked with the likes of Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Playa, Fatman Scoop, Mad Skillz, Shaunta, Sebastian and Tweet. He also made guest appearances on “G Thang” by Ginuwine and “What About Us” by Jodeci.
“Times get rough, but we keep on pushing. [I] just heard some news [and] I hope it ain’t true,” Ginuwine wrote after learning of Magoo’s death.
“I just want everyone to know that time is short. [L]ove who you love and make sure they know it.”
The cause of Magoo’s death has not been shared with the public.
