Laker legend Magic Johnson hasn’t seemed to be welcomed by Laker Nation as of late, with Nick Young telling him stay away and Jeanie Buss opposing his thoughts on the current state of the team.
Now maybe the fans might be starting to get on Earvin’s bad side. Magic was on Stephen A. Smith’s Sirus XM Show and said something that probably won’t make Laker fans happy:
“I really believe this: Kobe should say to Jim (Buss) and them, ‘Look, if you don’t sign one of these free agents man, I’m just not going to play next year,’” Johnson said.
Smith then asked Johnson whether he thinks Bryant should retire if the Lakers don’t acquire a top free agent in the summer of 2015.
“You almost gotta say that because if you come back with the same level of talent, you’re just going to have the same results,” Johnson said. “You know, so, look, Kobe, put pressure on Jim to say, ‘Look, man, you’ve got to bring me some talent, some help, so that this can be a great season for the Lakers and a great season for me, being my last season, and then I can retire.”
Well Kobe has about 24 million reasons not to retire after the season, and I doubt Kobe would want to go out like this, due to an injury.
Still a lot of Laker fans would really like it if Kobe played till he’s 87, which probably won’t happen (Keep hoping though Laker Nation!)
That being said Kobe isn’t going to retire after this season and that’s a DefPen guarantee, which you heard here first.
