The Los Angeles Lakers have a 46.9% chance of obtaining a top-three pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. If their pick does not fall within the top-3, it will go to the Philadelphia 76ers instead of them. Despite these odds, Magic Johnson has told Luke Walton that the Lakers will get their top-three pick. Although the draft lottery doesn’t begin until May 16th, Luke Walton is confident the Lakers will get the pick as well.
Walton spoke on a CBS sports program “We Need To Talk” and stated that he isn’t concerned about the team’s future and part of it has to do with what President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson has said to him. Walton went on to say the following.
“Magic’s already assured me that we’re going to get our top-three pick this year, so I’m excited about that,”
Why is Luke Walton in a good mood? Well, it turns out Magic is pretty confident the Lakers are keeping their pick ??https://t.co/Qtnir0UYV0 pic.twitter.com/h9ydMLurBk

Dana Jacobson asked Walton who they’d select in the draft if they did land a top-three pick. He responded with:
“We don’t know who the pick is yet, but I was just happy to know that we were getting the pick, that’s good enough for me for now.”
