The Celtics and Magic have discussed a deal that would send center Nikola Vucevic to Boston, according to CSNNE.
Right now, no deal is imminent between the two sides, according to the CSNNE report.
Orlando is reportedly open to dealing Vucevic, and hopes to acquire another scorer in exchange for the 26-year-old before the trade deadline arrives.
The Celtics have expressed interest in trading for a big man this season, as they hope to address their major weaknesses in rim protection and rebounding.
Boston currently holds a 28-18 record, ranked third in the East. Acquiring Vucevic could enable them to move Al Horford to the power forward position and begin playing a bigger brand of basketball.
Nikola Vucevic, who’s in his fifth season with the Magic, has averaged 13.8 points, 9.7 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 28 minutes per game so far this year. He scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 23 minutes against the Celtics on Friday.
With Orlando struggling and having a glut of big men in their rotation, expect them to continue looking for a team interested in taking in Vucevic.
