In 2018, the world lost a number of creatives, artists and influential figures. Throughout the year, the world of entertainment mourned the loss of Stan Lee, Aretha Franklin and many more. Among the many influential figures we lost was Mac Miller. Shortly after dropping his fifth studio album, we learned that Mac Miller had passed away at the age of twenty-six.

The world of music at large shared the fondest memories of the late musician. Everyone from Schoolboy Q to Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg shared the best that Mac had offered them in his meaningful life. A few months after his passing, we received some positive news. The Record Academy nominated Mac Miller’s final album, Swimming, for “Best Rap Album” at the 61st Grammy Awards.
On February 10th, Mac Miller’s Swimming will compete against Travis Scott’s Astroworld, Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap, Pusha T’s Daytona and Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy. As a result, Miller’s parents, Karen Meyers and Mark McCormick, have announced that they will be in attendance to accept any posthumous awards The Recording Academy elects to give their son.
