According to Deadline, the actresses are being courted for Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming boxing drama.
Jake Gyllenhaal is the only actor confirmed to star in the film, while Forest Whitaker is reportedly still in negotiations for the film.
Gyllenhaal will play Billy ‘The Great’ Hope, a title-winning left handed prizefighter whose victory is married by a tragedy. He must get his life back on track and regain the respect of his young daughter.
Whitaker is set to play Titus ‘Tick’ Willis, a former prizefighter who had to retire after losing an eye, with McAdams to play the female lead and Nyong’o as a social worker watching out for the child.
