The Miami Heat are going to be extremely busy this offseason. Most of their roster are going to be free agents come July 1st. Only Chris Bosh, Goran Dragic and the Rookies are locked down which means Pat Riley and the Heat front office have some work to do.
We know that Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside are the two biggest in-house tasks on the checklist. Joe Johnson is getting delusional thinking he will get good money for not showing up in the Playoffs and at some point down the line we get to Luol Deng who has been a reliable Heat player. But is he worth a 2-Year Deal? At $12 Million per year?
And an Eastern Conference official said he expects Deng to get at least $12 million annually in a two-year deal.
“Not only did I enjoy playing here, but it’s an amazing city,” Deng said. “I would love to be here. I can’t say one bad thing about being here.”
But the odds remain against a Deng return if Whiteside comes back.
Now I get why Luol wants that two year deal. He could’ve easily demanded that last year but he was a team player. This time he wants compensation for hooking the Heat up last season and if they can do it, the Heat should do it. Luol Deng is the epitome of ‘solid’ and always gets the job done.
