‘90210’ & ‘Riverdale’ star Luke Perry has died at age 52 after suffering a massive stroke on Wednesday. Since then, production for CW & Netflix show has been halted until further notice.
“[Perry] was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends,” his rep said in a statement. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
Perry started his acting career in the 1980’s with small roles in “Loving” and “Another World” on NBC, but finally got his big break in 1992 when he became a regular on the sensational show ‘90210’ as loner Dylan McKay.
Coincidentally, Perry was hospitalized the same day that the reboot for the ‘90210’ franchise was announced. But regardless, Perry was dedicated to his current role as Archie’s father, Fred Andrews in ‘Riverdale’. With the hit-show filming its 4th season now, this has put a bit of a halt on their production process.
Regardless, Perry’s acting and characters were something that was memorable to us all and his career and life should be celebrated. He will be missed by everyone, including some of his closest castmates.
I’m finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us.
I’m thinking of his family. His children.
I pray for them to heal and find peace in this devastating loss.
