It’s early on a Monday morning, but that may be a great time for good news. According to a report from Deadline, Luke Cage is expected to be renewed for a third season. While the news hasn’t been officially announced, the report from Deadline indicates that the news could become public any day now.
The second season of the Mike Colter led drama premiered its second season back in June to favorable reviews. The series second season earned a 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. David Betancourt of The Washington Post wrote that the second season was “spectacular, full of unforgettable performances, and has not one but two top-notch villains.”
With the series not officially renewed for a third season, there is no official release date for the new season. However, Marvel series typically take between one to two years to produce, so fans can hope for a new season by the end of the 2019.
Luckily, Luke Cage fared better than its Marvel counterpart, Iron Fist. The Marvel Netflix series was cancelled earlier this week after a two season run on the streaming platform. Meanwhile, Jessica Jones has been renewed for a third season and a brand new season of Daredevil is set to hit the internet this weekend.
