Euroleague star Luka Doncic is one of the highest-regarded prospects in the upcoming NBA Draft. But while the other players are at the NBA Combine in Chicago, Doncic is playing for Real Madrid – and possibly not for the last time. Doncic made waves when he said he is not sure if he will leave Spain for the NBA, but his agent says that has nothing to do with the teams at the top of the draft order.
According to Sporting News, Doncic’s agent Bill Duffy says that his client has no preference for what team he wants to play for. “Luka has stated no particular thought on any NBA teams,” Duffy says. The Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings have the first and second picks, respectively.
Doncic also has no intention of working out for NBA teams ahead of the draft, but says this is out of respect for his Real Madrid teammates. Sporting News also says that the 19-year old intends to play in the Spanish League Playoffs in June. For what it is worth Doncic is still under contract with Real Madrid, so he can is entirely within the right to stay in Spain during the pre-draft work.
The NBA Draft is June 21st at 8 p.m. EST on ESPN.
